Head Of English Department - Sharqia

Main Duties :

• Leading and managing the English department including, modeling best practice in English teaching, implementation of the curriculum, monitoring achievement of students and effectiveness of teachers, ensuring fair and effective assessment procedures.
• Ensuring continued innovation in the teaching of English.
• Providing opportunities for enrichment for gifted students and oversee all out of hours of English related learning.
• Encouraging the use of technology in all appropriate areas of English learning.
• Organizing curricular and co-curricular activities and events
• Actively working with class teachers in planning a pathway for the professional learning needs of the school.
• Creating regular opportunities for teachers to share, reflect and improve on classroom practice
• Holding regular school meetings with English teachers. Minutes of the meetings should be recorded.
• Ensuring assessment and feedback strategies are of the highest standards and have a direct impact on improving the quality of teaching and learning
• Recruiting, training, and supporting teachers
• Supporting teachers in the timely and effective reporting of information to parents
• Developing English to be an example of excellence to others within and beyond the school
• Ensuring all staff follow the expectations of the school and maintain the highest professional
• As a member of the team of Curriculum Leaders, playing a major role in ensuring the development of teaching and learning policies and practices across the school
• At least 5 years experience as an English Language Supervisor
