CID Gulf LLC is a joint venture company established by Mr. Najeeb Alkhonji (KHONJI ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY), a Member of Mohamed & Ahmed Alkhonji LLC (MAK), one of the leading technology-based products and services holding in Oman, and Conseil, Ingénierie et Développement (CID), a large Moroccan consultancy engineering firm, operating across the African Continent and the Middle East. The objective of the two partners is to build a Omani consultancy engineering business based on CID experience as a national company created exclusively to tackle the engineering challenges in Morocco and ALKHONJI’S reputation as a well-established Omani holding since 1920 enjoying a leadership position amongst the industries stakeholders and others. CID Gulf LLC is an independent multi-disciplinary engineering firm operating as a regional platform, part of CID International operations in GCC countries, with its head office based in Muscat.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical aspects of a Wind Turbine Farm Project in Oman, including full integration with the national grid. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in renewable energy systems, particularly wind power, and a deep understanding of Oman’s electrical infrastructure, regulations, and stakeholders.
This role is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and grid integration of the wind farm, ensuring compliance with Omani authority requirements and international engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of electrical design and execution for wind power projects, including grid connection and transmission line design.
- Develop and review technical documentation such as single line diagrams, protection coordination schemes, and system interconnection studies.
- Lead and perform grid impact studies, including :
- Load flow analysis
- Short circuit studies
- Harmonic distortion analysis
- Voltage and frequency ride-through (VRT / FRT) studies
- Dynamic stability studies
- Perform CAPEX / OPEX estimation, contribute to financial modeling, and support project cost optimization.
- Analyze and interpret power network systems, ensuring stability, reliability, and efficient load management.
- Propose and evaluate electrical protection systems, switchgear selection, and substation design strategies.
- Coordinate with relevant Oman authorities including OETC and NEDC for technical compliance, approvals, and inspections.
- Use engineering software tools including ETAP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prepare professional engineering reports, modeling documentation, and regulatory submissions.
- Monitor project timelines, demonstrating excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Collaborate with commercial teams for procurement and vendor evaluations, considering both technical and financial aspects.
- Supervise contractors and mentor junior engineers throughout the engineering and commissioning phases.
Ideal Profile
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Power and Control Engineering (BEng or equivalent is the minimum). Master’s Degree in Renewables is a Plus.Minimum 10 years of experience in Renewable Wind Energy design projects, including :At least 5 years in Oman in wind energy projectsOR 8 years in GCC countriesStrong technical experience in wind turbine projects and grid-tied renewable energy systems.Deep understanding of Oman’s electrical regulations, licensing procedures, and utility infrastructure.Demonstrated ability to perform and document advanced grid studies and impact assessments.Strong knowledge of load estimation, load management, diversity factors, protection systems, and maximum demand calculations.Experience in electrical distribution and transmission systems.Valid driving license.Candidates already residing in Oman are strongly preferred.Technical Skills
