The Universal American School - Cairo (UASC) is set to open in 2025 as a premier non-profit, co-educational, college preparatory institution. Offering the American curriculum through the New York State Standards (NYSS) and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, UASC has also be authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the IB Diploma Program.

The Project Manager

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and strategic Project Manager for Universal American School - Cairo. You will play a pivotal role in the operational pre-opening planning, ensuring the establishment of a premium, world-class American curriculum school in Cairo Festival City, Egypt.

The Project Manager will oversee all non-educational, operational pre-opening planning. Working under the direction of the Universal American School Cluster Lead, and with support from Al-Futtaim Education Foundation department heads and relevant Al-Futtaim Group divisions, you will be instrumental in aligning the project with the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation's strategic roadmap.

Key Responsibilities of the role

Project Control

  • Support the Chief Operations Officer and Cluster Lead by delivering accurate program reporting throughout the project duration.
  • Prepare progress reports on the project for the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation Management team as required.
  • Monitor budgeted project expenditures and cash flow projections, reporting actuals and variances to the Chief Financial Officer regularly.
  • Ensure all financial records for the project are up to date.
  • Manage risks, plan contingencies, and establish transparent communication processes to escalate, manage, and resolve issues.
  • Identify and manage internal dependencies across Al-Futtaim Group functions and with external suppliers and regulators, as needed.

Project Implementation :

  • Execute the project according to the project plan.
  • Develop forms and records to document project activities.
  • Ensure all project information is appropriately managed and documented in accordance with policy.
  • Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure on-time completion.
  • Regularly update stakeholders within the organization on project progress.
  • Review the quality of work completed with the project team regularly to ensure it meets project standards.

    • Project Evaluation :

  • Ensure project deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards.
  • Evaluate project outcomes as established during the planning phase.
  • Support the Chief Operations Officer and Cluster Lead in identifying areas for project process improvement.
  • Assist in implementing project management best practices where required.

    • The successful candidate will have the following

    Knowledge & Skills

  • Dual linguistic proficiency in English and Arabic is desirable.
  • Skilled in budget management, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to monitor cash flow projections and manage financial records.
  • Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
  • Ability to develop and implement contingency plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills.
  • Ability to align project objectives with organizational strategic goals.
  • Strong skills in developing project plans and ensuring successful execution.
  • Experience in setting and maintaining quality standards for project deliverables.
  • Ability to conduct regular quality reviews and implement improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Awareness of industry regulations and compliance requirements in the local market (Cairo).
  • Ability to ensure projects adhere to legal and regulatory standards is essential.

    • Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree or higher
  • A PMP or relevant Project Management qualification is essential
  • Significant experience in leading complex projects, ideally in the education market
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office tools and Project Management software
