Consultancy – Retail Sales advisor for Alsalam

We are searching for an experienced Consultancy – Retail Sales advisor for Alsalam at our Egypt facility.

Project Overview :

The Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) is a 7-year and €million programme funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that aims to create a prosperous future for , young women and men in the Middle East, North Africa, Sahel & West Africa and Horn of Africa regions. The Fund will be supporting initiatives in 12 focus countries that will offer youth, in particular young women, opportunities for work that is demand-driven and productive, offering a stable income and safe working conditions, and that is contributing to their personal development and social protection.

About Alsalam :

Alsalam Factory was established in in Sudan with the vision is to provide ecofriendly essential products to the regional market through innovative solutions while empowering women and girls.

The mission is to become the leading manufacturer of ecofriendly products in Africa with the focus on reusable sanitary pads and diapers while positively impacting local communities through women's economic and social empowerment.

In Alsalam expanded its operations to Egypt and started the production of reusable sanitary pads and reusable diapers.

Assignment Overview :

Alsalam has conducted a market research for the Egypt market and is now at an exciting phase of growth, and they are looking to develop a comprehensive Sales strategy based on the research outings. It is seeking to build a Sales plan outlining the approach to best enter and penetrate the Egyptian retail market.

To achieve this goal, CFYE is looking to onboard an experienced sales expert based in Egypt to support Alsalam to develop a Sales Strategy including recommend optimal sales model (direct, distributor, partner, e-commerce, , propose pricing strategy and value proposition tailored to the Egyptian market and develop lead generation and conversion strategy.

The consultant will report directly to the CFYE Country Lead and work closely, on a day-to-day basis with the Alsalam management team including the marketing department.

Specific Activities & Deliverables :

The Sales consultant will provide frequent management coaching sessions, with the ultimate aim of helping the Management team come up with a strong, well informed Retail Strategy.

  • Develop different Sales strategy (scenario’s), including investment costs, timeline and potential yields.
  • Support Alsalam management to develop and implement a Go-to-Market Action Plan for the best route to
  • Connect the Alsalam management team to relevant actors in the retail market for consumers – with a potential interest in Alsalam’s products, and provide advisory on building and maintaining relationships with these key clients.
  • In consultation with Alsalam staff, advise on marketing structures, roles, processes, and forecasting plans for next two financial years to catalyze the company achieve its sales and marketing goals within the retail market.
  • Document and discuss with the Alsalam management key recommendations, tips, or strategies for future improvements that they continuously work on.

Deliverables :

  • Sales Strategy Document (detailed plan).
  • Go-to-Market Action Plan including timeline, milestones and responsibilities.
  • Forecast Model and KPIs Dashboard.
  • Short end of assignment report.
  • Level of Effort :

    The timeline of the assignment is expected to be 4 months (end of July – end of October ).

    Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, marketing, Business management or in any other related field is preferred
  • Substantive experience working in Sales and business development.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing sales strategies for different business models including ecommerce.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across teams and organisations.
  • Experience working with small and growing companies (SGBs) operating in the informal sector is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience working in value chain development and especially in Egypt or the wider region will be an added advantage.
  • Prior experience working as a sales consultant in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), medical supplies or cosmetics will be an added advantage.
