We are seeking a qualified Procurement Engineer with experience in contracting and construction projects to manage the procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and services in alignment with project timelines, specifications, and budgets. The ideal candidate will bridge technical knowledge with procurement strategies to ensure timely delivery and compliance with engineering requirements on-site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret project drawings, specifications, and BOQs to identify procurement needs for electrical works.
- Prepare and issue RFQs / RFPs to vendors and subcontractors based on project-specific requirements.
- Evaluate technical and commercial aspects of supplier quotations to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, and site teams to align procurement plans with construction schedules.
- Maintain procurement logs, material submittals, and approvals tracking.
- Ensure timely issuance of purchase orders and monitor vendor performance, deliveries, and quality.
- Source alternatives in case of delays, shortages, or technical rejections, ensuring minimum impact on project execution.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, BS) and project specifications during material selection.
- Liaise with QA / QC, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure proper material inspection, storage, and inventory control.
- Provide procurement cost input for budgeting and variation orders.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.3–5 years of procurement experience in contracting, construction, or MEP projects.Strong understanding of electrical materials, such as switchgear, cables, transformers, lighting, conduits, control panels, etc.Familiarity with project documentation, including technical submittals, compliance sheets, and vendor drawings.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and material specifications.Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and procurement tracking tools.BENEFITS
