JOB DESCRIPTIONProject :
The Senior ESIA-ESMP Project Manager (PM) will play a critical role in ensuring that the constructions are sustainable, compliant with regulations, and aligned with best practices in environmental protection and social responsibility —across all phases, from preliminary assessments and bidding through EPC contracting and construction completion.
The PM tasks will span planning, coordination, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and reporting. The main tasks are :
- Environment responsibilities
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) : Coordinate or oversee EIA studies, review EIA reports and ensure mitigation measures are implemented.
- Environmental Compliance : Ensure the project complies with environmental laws and regulations (local and international), liaise with environmental regulatory bodies.
- Sustainability Planning : Integrate sustainability principles into project design and execution, promote resource efficiency (energy, water, materials).
- Environmental Monitoring and Reporting : Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMP), Monitor key environmental indicators and submit regular reports.
- Waste and Pollution Control : Manage waste handling and disposal procedures, implement pollution prevention and control measures.
- Social Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Engagement : Identify key stakeholders (local communities, NGOs, government, etc.), conduct consultations and maintain transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Social Impact Assessment (SIA) : Oversee SIA studies to identify and mitigate adverse social impacts, address issues like resettlement, indigenous peoples' rights, and cultural heritage.
- Community Relations : Manage community development programs and grievance mechanisms, build trust with local populations and address concerns proactively.
- Labor and Working Conditions : Ensure compliance with labor laws and international standards (e.g., ILO), monitor contractor and subcontractor labor practices.
- Gender and Inclusion : Promote gender equity and inclusion of marginalized groups in project benefits and decision-making processes.
- Project Management Duties (Cross-Cutting)
- Planning and Coordination : Develop detailed work plans and timelines for environmental and social tasks. Coordinate interdisciplinary teams (engineers, scientists, sociologists, etc.).
- Risk Management : Identify environmental and social risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation : Estimate and manage budgets for environmental and social components.
- Documentation and Reporting : Prepare reports for funders, government agencies, and stakeholders, ensure documentation is audit-ready and meets reporting requirements.
QUALIFICATION General Qualifications and skills
Holds a Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; ideally supplemented by a Master’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration (MBA), or Environmental Sciences.Possesses internationally recognized certifications in environmental and social assessment and planning.Brings 15 years of professional experience in project management, with a strong record of delivering projects on time and within budget.Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders at various organizational levels.Sound understanding of project planning, coordination, risk management, resource allocation, and reporting.Experienced in industrial project settings, particularly in sectors related to food and environment.Excellent command of English (spoken and written) is essential.Previous professional experience in Egypt and / or the MENA region is highly desirable.Adequacy for the Service
Environmental and social expertise :Strong background in both Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment (SIA), with the ability to oversee studies, validate reports, and ensure effective implementation of mitigation measures.Experienced in developing and implementing Environmental and Social Management Plans, handling waste and pollution control, and integrating sustainability principles in project execution.Skilled in managing stakeholder engagement, community relations, gender inclusion, and labor standards compliance, including alignment with ILO conventions and local labor regulations.Construction expertise :Proven experience in the design and construction supervision of industrial facilities, including silo projects and environmentally sensitive infrastructure.In-depth knowledge of project and contract management, especially under Turnkey contracts, including budget control, schedule oversight, and compliance with Environment, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) and quality assurance standards.This dual expertise in turnkey contract management and environmental and social assessment ensures that projects are delivered not only efficiently and cost-effectively, but also with a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The integrated knowledge of both domains enables :
early identification and mitigation of potential risks related to environmental and social factors,minimizing adverse impacts of construction,reducing the likelihood of costly delays or legal complications.
