Job summary
- Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the daily movement of trucks and drivers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and customer-focused deliveries. This role involves assigning routes, tracking fleet activity in real-time, identifying irregularities in vehicle usage, managing driver communication, and resolving operational issues promptly.

Trip Planning & DispatchingAssign vehicles and drivers to delivery or transport jobs based on availability, route efficiency, and vehicle load capacity.Issue daily trip plans and instructions to drivers, including customer locations, timelines, and specific requirements.Ensure drivers have necessary documentation (delivery orders, permits, manifests, etc.)Real-Time Fleet MonitoringTrack vehicle locations and trip progress using GPS / fleet management systems.Monitor on-time performance, route adherence, and delays.Respond to real-time events such as accidents, breakdowns, or traffic disruptions.Identify and report trends such as poor driving habits, unauthorized vehicle use, or operational inefficiencies.Operations Efficiency & Route OptimizationFlag idle or non-functional vehicles parked for extended periods without attention.Implement approved route plans and suggest improvements based on real-time data and operational feedback to enhance delivery performance.Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate records of driver schedules, delivery logs, and vehicle usageGenerate scheduled and ad hoc reports on vehicle performance, usage, and compliance.Continuously improving data management practices to enhance operational visibilityCross-Functional and Administrative SupportCollaborate with other departments to provide fleet data and operational support.Perform additional tasks assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Manager, aligned with the roles scope and responsibilitiesKey relationships
Fleet Supervisor Provides daily oversight, assigns tasks, and reviews tracking reports.Truck Drivers Communicates assignments, captures issues, ensures compliance with routes and safety standards.Maintenance Team Coordinates vehicle status updates and flags vehicles requiring maintenance.GPS / Tracking System Vendor Supports technical issues, system upgrades, and ensures accurate data capture.Role Dimensions

Required qualifications
Minimum - Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field (Transportation, Logistics)Preferred qualifications
Certification in logistics or transport managementRequired experience 2-5 years of experience in a similar field.Preferred experience
Proven experience in fleet management and operations.In-depth knowledge of transportation safety regulations and logistics principles.Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and performance measurement.Excellent communication skills.Knowledge & Skills
