Data Center Technician

Job Description

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on servers, networking hardware, and other data center equipment.
  
• Monitoring and Reporting: report and monitor anomalies or performance issues to supervisors.
  
• Incident Response: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving hardware, connectivity, or environmental issues to minimize downtime.
  
• Installation and Decommissioning: Install, configure, and decommission hardware, cabling, and infrastructure components as needed.
  
• Environmental Control: Ensure optimal operation of power (e.g., UPS, PDU) and cooling systems (e.g., HVAC, CRAC units) to maintain a stable environment.
  
• Security Compliance: Follow physical and digital security protocols to protect data center assets and ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ISO 27001).
  
• Documentation: Document and labeling accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
  
• Team Support: Collaborate with other technicians and IT teams to execute projects and maintain operational standards.
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  
• Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA Server+, Data Center Technician Certification (DCT), , ITIL Foundation.
  
• 1-3 years of experience in a data center, IT support, or technical maintenance role.
  
• Hands-on experience with hardware installation, cabling, or troubleshooting is preferred.
  
• Knowledge of server hardware (e.g., Dell, HP, Cisco) and networking equipment.
  
• Familiarity with power systems (e.g., UPS, PDU) and cooling technologies (e.g., HVAC).
  
• Basic understanding of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and diagnostic tools.
  
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals, schematics, or wiring diagrams.
  

Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 1-3 years of experience in IT operations or monitoring. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Dynatrace or similar IT monitoring tools and technologies, including network, server, and application monitoring. Experience working with T24, Oracle Database, and AS/400. Proficiency in IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL). Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA) are a plus.
