Roles and Responsibilities

  • Advanced Legal Advisory :  Offer expert legal advice on various issues, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Corporate Law Expertise :  Specialize in corporate law matters, advising on corporate structuring, governance, and compliance.
  • Contract Negotiation and Management : Lead the negotiation, drafting, and management of complex contracts and agreements.
  • Risk Management : Identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring alignment with business goals while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Legal Dispute Resolution : Handle coordination of legal disputes and litigation with external legal counsels / firms and represent the company's interests if needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to local and international laws and regulations, staying abreast of legal developments that might impact the company.
  • Internal Policy Development : Develop and implement internal legal policies and procedures to enhance legal and operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration : Collaborate with various departments to provide legal insights and support in decision-making processes.
  • Team Leadership :  Mentored and guided junior legal staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and legal excellence.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude, adaptable, and a collaborative team player
  • Comprehensive and in-depth understanding of applicable law, including corporate law, data protection, anti-money laundering, lobbying, sanctions, and industry-specific regulations
  • Excellent legal research skills
  • Clear, concise communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound legal analysis, exercise good judgment, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Practical problem solver who is self-motivated with a high degree of initiative
  • Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies and government officials is an asset
  • Strong academic record, an LLB, or an appropriate conversion course is an asset
  • Additional language (such as French) is an asset
